About AAPCG
The Asia-Pacific Academic Primary Care Group (AAPCG, called in brief “the double A PCG”) is a voluntary collaborative partnership among academic family medicine/ general practice/ Primary Care departments/ divisions/ units of universities in the Asia Pacific region.
We provide a mentorship and collaboration platform for Primary Care academic in the region.

This AAPCG was founded in 2018 at Hong Kong Primary Care Conference (HKPCC), Hong Kong by 10 institutions in Asia-Pacific in 2018. The 10 institutions involved was as following:

Outcome

An academic research network to form partnerships and collaborations, with the aim to build research capability, capacity and reputation for family medicine/primary care as an academic discipline, both at home and internationally.

Institutional Commitment
Each participating academic institution will nominate a senior academic staff who will be the AAPCG hub of the respective institution and region and serve as a mentor and expert workshop leader of the AAPCG.
Each participating academic institution will nominate 1-2 promising academic members from their institutions to be trained as future academic leaders in primary care research, to be the AAPCG scholars/members.
The nominating institution commits to support and find financial means for their nominees to participate in the AAPCG training meetings and other activities for three years.
AAPCG Scholars
The nominated AAPCG scholars should possess an academic post-graduate (Master of Medicine or Fellowship in Family Medicine/GP qualifications) and have some track record or qualifications in research. The nomination to AAPCG should be submitted through the attached standard application form with full CV and justifications for the nomination. The nominated scholars (10-14) of the AAPCG will receive individualized training in research skills, organized by AAPCG.
Each AAPCG scholar must identify a specific research project that he/she will work on over the next three years, and commit to participate in AAPCG training meetings and other activities for three years, and develop their academic skills
Mentorship
The institutional senior academic representative of the AAPCG will facilitate mentorship for the AAPCG scholars in the career of research and medical education.
The AAPCG scholars are encouraged to identify their own mentor(s) who can be local, international or both, and may change with time and need.
Peer Support
The AAPCG scholars/members will have an opportunity to form friendships and provide peer support for one another. They can build their own network of mentors and peers, as this is part of developing skills in forming effective and supportive teams.
Deliverables a

Training Meetings
AAPCG hosts a range of academic activities and professional development programs to support primary care researchers and educators.
Each year, we organize regional meetings featuring lectures, workshops, and collaborative sessions designed to build research capacity.
Our training activities provide a platform for scholars to share ideas, develop skills, and initiate cross-institutional projects.
AAPCG meetings are held in conjunction with major Family Medicine and Primary Care conferences in the region.
